Who are we
We need each other!

WorldLife is a neutral and independent organization, specialized in paying attention to those areas most dramatically affected by Climate Change. We do this by initiating, organizing and facilitating reforestation projects together with national and international partners. Our ultimate goal is to restore nature, enhance biodiversity, realizing sustainable social development and economic recovery.

Jointly, WorldLife wants to explore and apply opportunities, tools, inspiration, knowledge and decisiveness to address the challenges of climate change. In a preventive way by creating awareness and in a curative way by reducing the effects of climate change. WorldLife connects knowledge and decisiveness.

Margrethe van Heeswijk, founder of WorldLife Foundation, has an internal drive to restore nature. She’s focused on people with a passion, ‘these are the people who are really able to create a (major) change. For Margrethe both – the top-down and the bottom-up – approach is really important to achieve this goal. On grassroots level this means realizing reforestation projects in corporation with local inhabitants, NGO’s and governments. Besides this she stimulates and creates awareness on decision makers level in organizations. ‘We spent money we don’t have, we buy things we don’t need, we impress people we don’t know….when do we finally decide to be?’

WorldLife wants to heal nature in a most comprehensive way. The first focus is on revitalizing degraded ecosystems in Kenya. Planting indigenous trees is one activity in an array of interventions by committed stakeholders. Our efforts are supported by a growing variety and increasing number of public and private organizations and individuals, using various proven methods .

WorldLife works also with local hands-on partners, one of our partners the Eco schools, spread all over Kenya. Together with these schools we teach children nature related education and stimulate Nature focused awareness. We depend on our natural environment and a balanced ecosystem is vital for our livelihoods. We involve children by stimulating their creativity.
